Two Years Later Arrest Made In Case of Body Parts Found Near Hollywood Sign

The body part mystery at the Hollywood sign has been solved, according to police. It was a little more than two years ago, on Jan. 17, 2012, when authorities found a severed human head, and another body parts, scattered in the hills near the sign.

On Sunday, investigators announced they made an arrest in the case, 38-year-old Gabriel Campos Martinez has been arrested and charged with the murder. The victim, 66-year-old, Hervey Coronado Medellin, was identified.

According to an LAPD press release, “The head was discovered by two woman who were walking several dogs through a trail in the park. With the help of a cadaver dog and additional department resources additional body parts were found near the same area where the head was discovered.”

Reports indicate investigators believe Hervey was killed somewhere else, and his body was dumped on the trial and around Griffith Park. Martinez, according to LAPD, was arrested and taken down with the help of the San Antonio Police. He is being held and is awaiting extradition.
