Following last week’s shocking Slender Man-inspired murder attempt, an Ohio woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, has come forward claiming that she believes she was the victim of an attack motivated by the now-infamous meme.
The woman, who was recently attacked by her 13-year-old daughter, said she made the Slender Man connection after watching news coverage of the Waukesha, WI stabbing.
Of the alleged attack she tells WLWT:
“I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask, a white mask…She had her hood up and had her hands covered with her sleeves and the mask…She was someone else during that attack…[she] mentioned playing a role. [I] got the feeling she was playing a role. It didn’t feel like her at all.”
After the alleged attack, where the mother suffered minor injuries including cuts on her neck, face and a puncture wound on her back, the victim referred back to her daughter’s disturbing journal entires.
“We found things that she had written and she made reference to Slender Man. She also made references to killing,” the mother said. “She even created a world for Slender Man in the game mine craft.”
The mother, who wishes not to discuss the case in depth, knew the girl suffered from mental health issues, but never thought it would go this far. Her parting words for all parents:
“We do have to police what they do and what they read.”
The unidentified girl, who is being charged as a juvenile, claims not to remember the attack.
