Last Friday, a 26-year-old Manhattan woman flew off the straightening iron handle after receiving what she thought was a botched hairdo at Century 27 Beauty Salon in lower Manhattan.
Rachel Meyers, who just so happens to be a U.S. Postal Worker, allegedly went postal on the salon’s manager.
“She switched. She went postal,” a witness told the New York Daily News.
Meyers, who reportedly came into the salon wearing her uniform, leaving her mail cart on the sidewalk, saying she was on a time crunch while on a break from work, found her “wet and set” service to be way too slow.
“We all tried to make her feel comfortable, but she started shouting,” said the manager. “Everything turned into a ruckus. Everyone turned into animals.”
Even Meyer’s fiancé tried to calm her down, but she allegedly snapped, telling him: “I’m 27. I’m a grown a** woman. Don’t tell me what to say.”
From there, things got really crazy. Meyers allegedly went on a rampage which included throwing chairs, dryers and various other beauty products. She even threw a hot comb across the room at a stylist.
“She was aiming for their head. She looked possessed,”said a witness.
According to police reports, she also chucked a curling iron stand which hit a 52-year-old fellow patron in the knee, causing “substantial pain.”
In the end, Meyers was dragged away in handcuffs and charged with five misdemeanors, including assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.
Meyers is due in Manhattan Criminal Court in September.
