Unconventional Parenting: Mom Fires Rifle To Get Kids To Stop Watching So Much TV

Jennifer Ullery wasn’t happy with the amount of television her children were watching, so she shot up with TV set with a rifle.

Needless to say, the 40-year-old woman was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm without a FOID and three counts of endangering the life of a child.

Sitting on a couch in front of the set were her three kids—ages 15, 11 and 6—watching a music video from the rock band Primus when Ullery fired “multiple rounds” of a Ruger .22 long rifle.

Needless to say, the 50-inch Panasonic flatscreen shattered but, thankfully, none of the children were hurt.

The shooting originally happened on January 20, but the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services didn’t report it to authorities until February 9.

On Monday, Ullery appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the felony and four misdemeanor offenses.

After her arrest, DCFS placed her children in the care of another family member, though it isn’t clear where they are now living.

Ullery is due back in court on April 20.

During that appearance, perhaps we’ll learn which channel was showing a Primus music video in 2015 because that’s almost beyond our comprehension.

If i had kids, id prob. Go crazy if they were like that too. I think she should of handled it a better way. If i was her, i would of just gave the tv away, or threw it out. Im sure she didnt mean any harm towards her kids.

Firing live rounds into a tv set wasn’t bad enough. She shot MULTIPLE rounds. With a shot gun. Nah, I’m sure she just wanted to spook them up a bit.

She’s lucky there was no physical damage. We can only hope this horrific act of rage didn’t permanently leave emotional damage with her children.

You’re insane to feel pity for her. If she’s not in control of herself enough to contain herself, instead of flying off the handle, she’s not competent enough to be a parent.

Omg! I don’t feel sorry for her at all. She acted like a child herself throwing a temper tantrum. She had so many other options. How about removing the tv from the room and putting it somewhere the kids couldn’t get to it. Who is the parent here? I know if my parents told me to turn off the tv and go do something else that is what I did. I bet she wasn’t only mad about how much tv they were watching but also she was loosing control of them. That is why she fired those rounds.
