Police in Windermere, Florida, are asking for the public’s help in identifying at least ten women who were photographed passed out in chilling “compromising positions” (you can see the photos in more detail here).
It’s unclear who these women are and what happened to them, and Chief David Ogden reportedly said he is concerned for the well-being of these potential victims.
“We are not sure if [the women] are harmed,” Ogden said, according to News 13. “We’re not sure if they’re safe. We’re not sure if they’re even alive, to be honest with you. Some of our biggest fears are that these cases are so old that maybe there’s somebody out there that isn’t alive any longer.”
The police department also released photos of tattoos and jewelry that could help identify the women in question, all of whom were photographed before 2011 and appear to be sleeping or drugged. The photos reportedly came from videos the Windermere PD currently has in its possession, though the police chief did not reveal further information.
Ogden reportedly thinks the women were all from the central Florida area, and the department has apparently been looking into the disturbing case since 2012. It’s possible the women were victims of sexual assault, or worse.
“No matter what occurred to these women, they’re mothers, daughters, sisters and they need to be located and identified, to make sure they are OK and safe,” private investigator James Copenhaver noted.
