Man Steals, Crashes Boat Owned By Dentist Who Killed Cecil The Lion

Andrew Derwin

A passenger is in critical condition after a man reportedly stole and crashed a $60,000 boat belonging to a controversial Minnesota dentist.

Andrew Derwin (pictured) was arrested after taking Dr. Walter Palmer’s 23-foot-boat from his Marco Island, Florida, winter home. (Dr. Palmer, who wasn’t home during the incident, was the center of controversy last year after he killed Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe.) Before his arrest, Derwin crashed the vessel, severely injuring passenger Nicholas Stolinas when he was hit by the propeller, FOX 4 reports.

While Derwin lives nearby, Dr. Palmer told investigators the 28-year-old didn’t have permission to use the boat, CBS Minnesota. Derwin was subsequently charged with grand theft for the joyride.
