  • The parents (above) of a malnourished 17-year-old in Colorado who weighed just 88 pounds when authorities found him have been arrested and charged with a string of child-abuse charges. David Hall was charged at the Boulder County Jail with felony child abuse and negligence resulting in serious injury to an at-risk adult. David and Vanessa’s son, who has autism and is blind, was near death, and his condition resembled that of a concentration-camp survivor, according to doctors. Vanessa, who was her son’s primary caregiver, allegedly told officials that her son survived on a diet of soda and crackers because “that’s all he would eat.” News outlets have reported that the teen has received no formal schooling since he was five. Police say that the boy’s mother, 24, and her boyfriend, 25, first said the child was playing outside when they heard a gunshot. • A North Carolina man has been arrested for creating parental panic over bogus clown sightings. David Wayne Armstrong, 24, told Winston-Salem police that a clown knocked on his window before he chased it into nearby woods, but authorities said in a statement he had lied. He was arrested on a charge of filing a false police report. Police also stated that they have found no evidence of a clown attempting to lure children into a wooded area by offering them treats. Reports of clown sightings in the state and neighboring South Carolina since late August have prompted a stronger police presence, and concerns from parents in the area who are unsure if the clown sightings are a sinister danger or merely hoaxes. [Yahoo News]
