Canadian Woman Horrified To Discover Her $700 “Sphynx” Hairless Kitten Was Shaved By Scammer

  • A Canadian woman who shelled out $700 for a “Sphynx” hairless cat she found on the classified site Kijiji has revealed her shock after learning that her kitten had been shaved. JoAnne Dyck said when bought her kitten Vlad, he was “completely hairless … very, very skinny and his face was really angular.” But two weeks later he started growing orange fur, and when Dyck brought Vlad to her vet in Alberta, she was horrified to learn that she had been scammed. Vlad was not naturally hairless; he had been shaved and may have even had a hair removal gel like Nair applied to his skin, causing cuts and irritation. Dyck posted her story to social media, and two other victims have come forward to say they were scammed on the same site.[New York Post]

    A Florida woman has been arrested after police found her four-month-old baby alone in a car while she was Christmas shopping at Target. Panama City Police Department officials charged Shannon Bunkley, 21, with child neglect without great bodily harm on Thanksgiving after police say she left the infant for at least 40 minutes to go inside Target at around 9 P.M. PCPD said that they were alerted by another shopper who noticed the baby alone in the unlocked vehicle. The baby was uninjured and was turned over to relatives. [NWFDailyNews]
  • The former co-owner of a raw vegan restaurant pleaded guilty on Tuesday to harassment in the first degree for attempting to masturbate in front of a woman on a subway platform. Dan Hoyt, 53, former co-owner of East Village eatery Quintessence, was sentenced to time served after police say he approached a woman on a subway platform at Broadway and East Eighth Street on January 12 and asked if he could masturbate to her. He then allegedly disappeared behind a beam and continued to peep out at her with his pants down, court records show. Hoyt has a ten-year history with charges of public lewdness and masturbation.   • A bank robber has surrendered and released 11 hostages following a dramatic armed standoff on Thursday morning in Jacksonville, Florida, police say. The unnamed suspect had pointed his gun at hostages’ heads at the Community First Credit Union bank and made a series of demands. Sheriff Mike Williams told reporters the demands included money and bringing family members to the scene. He is currently in custody. [Action News Jacksonville]
  • Two Fort Campbell soldiers have been charged with murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy in connection with the disappearance of Pfc. Shadow McLaine. The Army post announced the military charges Tuesday against Sgt. Jamal Williams-McCray and Spc. Charles Robinson, who are both assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. According to the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle, Williams-McCray is McClaine’s ex-husband. McClaine’s family last heard from her on September 2, when McClaine said she was house-sitting for a friend. Her car was later found abandoned in a Nashville lot, about 70 miles away from the base.   • A 14-year-old Pennsylvania boy is facing charges of criminal homicide and first-degree murder after police say he shot his mother and eight-year-old brother in their heads as they slept. Police say Jacob Remaley called 911 just before 7 A.M. Wednesday and said that his mom and younger brother were dead, and his father had placed a gun in his bed before leaving the house. But the boy later said that he took a gun from atop the refrigerator and shot Dana Remaley and Caleb Remaley himself. Police said that the teen and his parents had not been getting along recently. [Fox News]
  • Eyewitnesses have captured an NYPD officer playing craps on the streets of the Bronx on video. According to PIX11 News, the officer has been identified as Detective David Terrell.  In the video, Terrell is shown — with his service weapon in view — blowing on the dice for good luck and kissing them before he throws them in an illegal game, allegedly with minors. The other players can be heard saying, “If you ace out right now, you gotta let him go,” and the group appears to be gambling over the fate of the person in the back seat of Terrell’s police cruiser.   • A married UK millionaire businessman who was “smitten” with his £10,000-a-month escort strangled her to death because he believed it was the “only option” after he overheard her saying she wanted to end their affair and “fleece” him, a court has heard. Property tycoon Peter Morgan, 54, allegedly killed Georgina Symonds and stashed her body in an outhouse after flying into a rage over her plans to leave him and work for other men. The father of two who is estranged from his wife Helen, denies murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
