PORT ST. LUCIE, FL — Diamond Keonsha Martin, 21, is allegedly responsible for breaking into a neighboring house to take the Christmas presents waiting under the tree. But she didn’t do it alone — her unusual accomplice is said to have been an 11-year-old girl.
Now both are under arrest after police say the child, who is reportedly Martin’s cousin, used a brick to break the window of the home. Once the window was broken, authorities believe Martin made her way inside after the child unlocked the door.
While in the home, Martin and her young companion allegedly made off with the gifts from under the tree, which included gift cards, candy, perfume, wine, and jewelry. But clearing that family out of their holiday gifts wasn’t all the dastardly duo did. They also went through the home and took a check book, toiletry items, medications from the bathroom cabinet, and even a gallon of milk from the refrigerator.
When the homeowner realized her gifts had been taken, the police did a canvass of the neighborhood. Witnesses reportedly told police they had seen Martin walking down the street from the direction of the home with a number of items.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft. Although Martin was booked in the St. Lucie County Jail, the child was shipped off to the Juvenile Detention Center.
