PADUA, ITALY — Italian authorities are investigating a Catholic priest who has been accused of hosting orgies in his rectory and pimping out as many as 15 of his lovers on “wife-swapping” websites.
Father Andrea Contin, 48, a parish priest at the Church of San Lazzaro, is under investigation for domestic violence and abetting prostitution after three female parishioners complained about his unholy behavior, according to local Italian media.
Authorities who raided his rectory seized a stash of sex toys, collars, and leashes, along with his homemade porn videos of the orgies — which he disguised with covers featuring the names of different popes — that allegedly took place on church grounds.
Church officials had reportedly heard rumors of Contin’s behavior last year, but wanted to finish their own investigation before contacting the police. The parish has asked Contin, who is on vacation in Croatia, to step down, but a statement written in Italian from the Diocese of Padua makes clear that this does “not amount to a conviction.”
One 49-year-old church volunteer told local media she was one of the priest’s many lovers. “There were a lot of women hovering around him,” she told Il Mattino di Padova newspaper. “I didn’t understand that at first, only later.”
The woman said that after the priest sent her flirty messages, they kissed and had sex at the rectory and in different houses at all hours of the day and night.
Another woman told the Italian newspaper she turned to Contin for help with personal problems — but that he eventually wanted “extreme and violent” sex from her.
