CORCORAN, CA — Charles Manson is back in prison following his health scare, and apparently feeling well enough to pose for photographs.
In two new pictures, which were taken on January 21 and obtained by The New York Post, the former cult leader is pictured wearing blue prison fatigues, a black bandanna, and a pair of sunglasses in the visiting room of Corcoran State Prison in California.
A Manson source said that the 82-year-old was in “good spirits” and appeared to be more health-conscious than usual, eating an avocado rather than raiding the snack machine for Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and Doritos as he often does.
At the time the photo was taken, Manson was reportedly sitting with a convert named “Black Wolf,” who has known the killer for 10 years.
In this photo posted on the the official Charles Manson Facebook page, Black Wolf’s hand is visible draped over Manson, and Manson’s black mesh fingerless gloves are visible.
The Post described Manson’s appearance as “scarier than ever,” but many commenters remarked that his pale complexion, white beard, crazy eyes, and Nazi swastika tattoo looked exactly the same — just with shades.
Earlier this month, Manson was rushed from prison to Bakersfield hospital after his intestines started bleeding. Several media outlets reported that he was seriously ill and could die at any moment.
Manson is serving a life sentence for his role in the infamous 1969 Los Angeles murder spree committed by his “Family.”
On January 25, 1971, the homicidal hippie and three of his female followers — Susan Atkins, 22; Patricia Krenwinkel, 23; and Leslie Van Houten, 21 — were convicted on multiple counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the two-night Tate-LaBianca massacres of August 1969.
