CORCORAN, CALIFORNIA — Infamous hippie-era cult leader Charles Manson, 82, made headlines recently after being moved from California’s Corcoran State Prison to a hospital in Bakersfield. Reports indicated he would undergo surgery for “serious” medical issues that included gastrointestinal bleeding.

Shortly thereafter, though, doctors first judged Manson “too frail” to survive any such procedure. Follow-up reports then indicated that the operation was actually going to be performed as planned.

Now Manson is back in jail. According to an unnamed source, “He’s not good. His health is failing.”

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman Jeffrey Callison stated: “We never said he was anywhere else and the law does not allow us to comment on an inmate’s medical issues — which should not be taken as confirmation that this inmate was recently in a hospital.”

Charles Manson’s “son” Matthew Roberts, 48, reportedly rushed to visit the ailing mastermind of the 1969 Tate-LaBianca massacres. So too, apparently, did Afton “Star” Burton, 29, who announced in 2014 that she and Manson were engaged to be married. Any impending nuptial plans reportedly collapsed amid talk that Afton was chiefly interested in ultimately using Manson’s corpse to make money.
