OROFINO, ID — In a scary development in what is normally a high point of any teenager’s life, a young man has vanished after his prom night.
Police are looking for 17-year-old Idaho teen Kristian Perez, who signed out of the Orofino High School prom at 9:32 P.M. on Saturday night and hasn’t been in communication with friends or relatives since, the Orofino Police Department said in a statement.
Authorities say that Perez was driven to the event by a relative, and was later reported missing by his mother.
A K-9 tracking team was able to follow Kristian’s scent west of the prom event space, the National Grand Armory, to a nearby parking lot, police said. Police found one of Kristian’s shoes, a tuxedo jacket, and a broken cellphone near the vehicle, a spokesperson for the Orofino Police Department told the New York Post.
Police are investigating a possible sighting of the teen in the town of Lewiston, about an hour away from Orofino. They have also secured a search warrant for the teen’s phone, and are looking for any clues in his text messages and phone calls.
Anyone with information about Kristian’s whereabouts is asked to call Orofino police at (206) 476-5551.
If you are in search of a missing person, make sure to enter their information into the database of the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.
