SAN DIEGO, CA — A hunky fitness model suspected in a string of robberies in Connecticut has been arrested in California.
David Byers, 34, evaded cops while passing through Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Arizona before he was finally arrested on Wednesday. FBI agents and local police found Byers in the San Diego area.
According to police, Byers robbed a Chase bank twice and a Citgo gas station, which are both located in Greenwich, Connecticut. Now Greenwich-law enforcement officials hope to extradite him so that he can face charges including first-degree robbery and felony reckless endangerment. They say that the process could take several weeks.
In the course of his crime spree, Byers allegedly also stole at least two vehicles.
Modeling pictures of Byers, who has several notable tattoos including one on his neck that was mentioned in his police description, have been circulating on social media.
“You guys are going to hear about this eventually, so here you go,” photographer Michael Stokes, who took professional pictures of Byers, wrote in a Facebook post. “I’m very surprised and saddened by this. David texted me last week Tuesday and seemed very upbeat and happy, so the timing of this is shocking.”
Byers had a run-in with the law in March as well, when he was charged with burglary, grand theft, resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated. According to authorities, Byers is likely to face additional charges.
