LONG ISLAND, NY — “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher, who became infamous after shooting the wife of her 35-year-old lover when she was only 17, has come back to New York.
Fisher, now 42, revealed that she decided to leave Florida, where her family had been living since 2011, because she wanted to give her three children a “fresh start.”
“My kids were ostracized in Florida. They had no friends. All the mothers thought their kids would get the Amy Fisher gene if they hung out with them,” Fisher told the New York Post.
She also claimed that a stalker jumped over her fence surrounding their gated community to harass her. Somewhat ironically, Fisher said, about the stalker, “I don’t want any lunatics coming after me.”Fisher shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her lover Joey Buttafuoco, in the face in 1992. Mary Jo survived, but was left scarred and deaf in one ear. The case dominated the news and sparked hundreds of lurid headlines, especially after a secret video emerged that showed Fisher getting paid $100 for sex with an escort-service client.
Fisher spent six years behind bars following the attack after pleading guilty to first-degree aggravated assault. Joey also served six months for statutory rape of a minor.
In a previous interview, Mary Jo said: “I never saw a gun. She didn’t threaten me with anything. I just turned, and I put my hand on the door to open it, and that was the end of it. That was the end of my life as I knew it.”
Since her release in 1999, Fisher has had a colorful career. She first worked as a columnist for the Long Island Press, and released her memoir If I Knew Then… in 2004.
In 2003 Fisher married Lou Bellera, an ex-cop turned event photographer 24 years her senior — and later embarked on a career in the adult-film industry. In 2009, Fisher released a pay-per-view film called Amy Fisher: Totally Nude & Exposed, and signed a contract to make several more films, which included Deep Inside Amy Fisher and Seduced by a Cougar 22.
The couple split in 2007, and divorced in 2015.
Fisher revealed that she is excited to reconnect with family — “Here I have a big Italian family, and they all accept me,” she said. “We enjoy our pasta and meatballs. My children have cousins they can play with.”
Long Island men may want to start checking their Tinders — Fisher confessed that she has had trouble finding a boyfriend since her divorce due to her notoriety. “As soon as they find out who I am, it’s the kiss of death or they have a million questions. Nobody wants to date me,” she said.
After her dalliances with Buttafuoco and her breakup with Bellera, Fisher says she’s now totally over dating older men and no longer finds them attractive, referring to her ex Bellera as “geriatric.”
