WINTER HAVEN, FL — Authorities in Florida and South Carolina have charged Christopher Taylor, 30, and Kristina Sluss, 36, with a combined total of four murders.
Police presently suspect that the couple may be connected to even more killings, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has asked the public for help.
Polk County, Florida, Sheriff Grady Judd said officers also arrested Christopher’s brother Gary Taylor, 21, on charges of accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence. Sheriff Judd added that he came to think more victims may be out there when, upon being picked up, Gary Taylor said, “Another one bites the dust!”
The trio faces charges for the savage slaying of John Bowling, 49, a homeless man who Christopher Taylor and Sluss had hoped would assist them in scamming banks. After Bowling proved ineffective, the elder Taylor allegedly beat him for 90 minutes with a metal frying pan until it broke. When Bowling would pass out, Taylor is said to have revived him to continue the brutality. Christopher then reportedly called his kid brother and asked him to bring over a baseball bat, which he used to finally kill Bowling.
Afterward, the Taylor brothers are believed to have dismembered Bowling, put his body parts in bags, and gone out to have dinner at their dad’s house. From there, they dumped the bags in a remote wooded area.Related: Killer Couple — Sarah Edmondson & Benjamin Darras, Natural Born Killers Copycats
As for the massacre in South Carolina, Christopher Taylor and Kristina Sluss stand accused of dropping by a house in nearby Spartanburg on January 20. Although a motive has not been determined, Taylor allegedly went berserk with a “lethal cutting weapon” and hacked to death Francis Richards, 59; Fred “Junior” Richards; and Nathan Poffenberger, 23.
Spartanburg County authorities say that both Taylor and Sluss have confessed to the triple homicide. The couple will eventually be extradited to South Carolina to stand trial for the slaughter.
In the meantime, Sheriff Judd is reaching out to you, the public, for any information or directions you can provide regarding still more crimes committed by Taylor and Sluss.
At a press conference, Sherrif Judd said:
“You don’t just wake up one day and start killing people. We need to know if you have any murders in the southeast United States, where the person was dismembered or partially dismembered. Do you have a vicious, outrageous crime scene? And the victims are victims for no apparent reason.
If there is another victim who – maybe they have disappeared, no one has heard from them, but one of these two individuals has been in your community. In law enforcement, we call that a clue.”
