BOLINGBROOK, IL — Cassandra Cales, the sister of missing woman Stacy Peterson, says she knows that her sibling’s remains are at the bottom of a Chicago canal and that she’s going to dive down to retrieve them herself.
Stacy Peterson was the fourth wife of disgraced ex-cop Drew Peterson. She vanished in October 2007. Drew Peterson remains the prime suspect in Stacy’s disappearance.
At present, Drew Peterson is serving 38 years for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. In addition, Drew is also serving a 40-year sentence for attempting to hire a hitman to kill James Glasgow, the prosecutor who finally put him behind bars.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Cassandra Cales said she announced her plans this past week because she believes the “Will County State’s Attorney and Illinois State Police are moving forward to charge Drew, in the near future and without her body, for the murder of my sister.”
Specifically, Cales states that she has “sonar images of [Stacy’s] lifeless body” lying at the bottom of the Chicago Sanitary and Shipping Canal, a drainage system that connects the Chicago River to the Des Plaines River.
The grieving sister further claims that Drew Peterson dumped Stacy’s body there on October 28, 2007, “after having dropped off his step-brother.”
Cales’ post also announced her intention to retrieve the skeletal remnants herself, and she posted a PayPal link for donations to fund the effort. She assured readers: “One more dive and we can get there.”
