Disgraced Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, 40, has filed a $57 million lawsuit against the judges and prosecutors who put him behind bars for child pornography.
Fogle attests he was wrongfully allowed to plead guilty to conspiracy to receive child pornography, stating that conspiracy does not apply to the offense he committed, TMZ reports.
This is not Fogle’s first lawsuit. Last year, he filed several appeals in court — all of which failed. He more recently applied for a writ of habeas corpus (claim of unlawful detention), naming the warden of his prison, the sentencing judge, and President Donald Trump, according to Law and Crime. A magistrate judge gave him 30 days to revise his court filing.
In February, he requested that Judge Pratt, who sentenced Fogle to 15 years and 8 months in prison, recuse herself from the case because she had teenage daughters, which would cause her to be biased against him, but his request was denied.
His attempt to use a “sovereign citizen” defense by arguing that the United States does not have jurisdiction over him also failed in court.
For the latest civil lawsuit, Fogle has reportedly teamed up with two other inmates. He has asked for $57 million, which he claims is triple the damage to the career he lost when he was arrested, according to court documents. His co-plaintiffs are reportedly suing for up to $114 million.
